SAVANNAH - Marion Hobbs Marsicano died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc.
She was born November 19, 1919 in Macon, Georgia to Thomas and Jessie Kendall Hobbs. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years, Dr. A. Ralph Marsicano Sr. and by her oldest sister, Marjorie Hobbs Douglas.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Dr. Anthony Ralph Marsicano Jr. of Titusville, Florida, and Dr. Thomas Hobbs Marsicano of Savannah, her sister Mrs. June Hobbs Spann, nephew Walter Dawson Spann Jr., her granddaughter Mrs. Alistair Marsicano Cartwright, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Marion was bright and vibrant and entered college at age 15, graduating from Mercer University with a degree in chemistry. She was an excellent and tolerant wife of a physician. At one point in her life she obtained an SEC license. She fired her own porcelain and was talented at sewing. While living in Columbus, Ohio, she was an early member of The Childhood League. She was an active member of the Savannah Garden Club until age took its toll. She remained a member of a bridge club in Savannah and deeply valued the other members for their friendship and great kindness to her. She was a member of the Wilmington Island Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 12, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Directors, Islands Chapel.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery, the Rev. Andy Meeker presiding.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Hospice Savannah, Inc. for their dignified and exemplary care, as well as to all those who prayed for and supported her and us.
